Non-Classroom/Professional Faculty

The Non-Classroom and Professional faculty are critical to our areas, departments and this institution. We provide vital support to classroom faculty and students. I am confident that I can contribute positively to negotiations. I am an exceptional listener, friendly but assertive and I will work tirelessly on your behalf.

Over the years our contract has been weakened and picked over by the administration; and ultimately, we settled for less than we deserve. The  administration appears to believe that we are all dispensable and can be transferred at their will. We need to communicate a unified message to the administration that effectively depicts who we are and what we do for the college.

I have been a part of the NCC family for over 20 years! In 2005, I was honored to become a member of the full-time faculty. I immediately got involved with the union and I was elected to represent the chemistry department as the alternate representative to the NCCFT Executive Board. A few years later I was elected full member, and I held that position until the Technologist transfer forced me to vacate my seat.

Other union-related positions that I have held during my time as a full-time faculty member include chair of the New Member committee and chair of the Special Events committee. I have also attended numerous annual NYSUT Community College conferences. These conferences provided NCCFT members with the opportunity to interact and collaborate with members from different unions.

Section 36.5 is just the beginning! We need to work together now, stand united and ratify a contract that is beneficial for ALL members at ALL stages of employment.
